Fuel Prices

By Jim Calhoun

If the Middle East situation goes wild weasel, fuel prices are going to historic high levels. So, now is the time to make plans for such an event.

We can live through unaffordable prices simply by doing without, but the inconvenience would be staggering.

Here are a few suggestions.

If you can weld metal, make the components to construct a gasifier. You can run any gasoline engine on wood gas for the cost of the construction and the wood you will burn.

Buy or build a gas or electric bicycle. Or old school it and acquire a bike you pedal.

If you are in a rural area, consider animal power. Teams of horses and oxen build this country in the early days.

Get into shape so you can walk to where you are going. I have heard of women in Africa walking over 50 miles with a baby strapped to them so they could hear someone talk about Jesus.

Yes, I am being extreme, but if Iran cuts off the Persian Gulf, we may see $10.00 a gallon gas and diesel. I know that would put me out of business.

If you produce your own power you could drive electric cars and golf carts. Just know that you will become a target for thieves or worse, so limit your exposure.

You can stock up on fuel, but it can go bad rather quickly so take care if you do that, also it is a fire hazard.

Sorry for the doom and gloom but as a watchman on the wall I just have to tell you.
